To work as effectively as possible, Sligro has been using Slimstock’s supply chain platform Slim4, for over twenty-five years.
Diverse customer base
From its head office in Veghel, the company supplies a wide range of food and non-food products to professionals in the hospitality industry, catering, company canteens and healthcare institutions. With 62 self-service locations and 10 delivery services, Sligro’s customer base is as varied as its product range: from healthcare institutions to sports canteens, each with its own ordering patterns and challenges. Sligro has over 75,000 SKUs, half of which are held in stock.
Nevertheless, thanks to Slim4, Sligro has complete insight into the ordering behaviour of each customer and can continuously strike the right balance between availability and efficiency. “Our customer base is varied and presents numerous challenges, but thanks to Slim4, we have a clear picture of each customer’s ordering behaviour,” says Pieter den Daas, Supply Chain Planning Manager, about working with Slimstock’s supply chain platform.
Up to speed in the supply chain within four days
At first glance, working at Sligro may seem challenging for new employees. The supply chain is complex and the product range extensive. Yet the training period turns out to be surprisingly short. Thanks to the structured approach and support from the Slimstock Academy, new planners can be fully operational within four days, says Oskar van Eck, Team Lead Supply Planning, “We send new employees straight to the Academy. This helps them quickly understand how Slim4 works and become up to speed within four days.”
Stock reduction
Sligro’s supply chain team is now achieving valuable successes thanks to the Slimstock platform. Slim4 has become indispensable in its daily operations. “In recent years, we have achieved a 10% reduction in inventory. That bodes well for the future,” says Martijn van Sambeek, Team Lead Demand Planning. “It’s almost unthinkable to work without Slim4.”
