Jacques’ Wein-Depot, Germany’s leading bricks-and-mortar wine retailer, is now relying on Slimstock’s supply chain and inventory optimisation solution. With this decision, the Düsseldorf‑based company is addressing the growing need to manage stock levels across its depots in a more demand‑driven manner.
The wine specialist is currently in the midst of a technological transformation: instead of a monolithic ERP system, the company is progressively building a modular, flexibly expandable ERP architecture designed to support the targeted automation of core processes.
At the same time, Jacques’ Wein-Depot is facing industry‑wide challenges resulting from changes in the wine market, which are putting pressure on inventory management. These include a structural decline in wine consumption, a shift towards more conscious and quality‑focused enjoyment, the resulting imbalance between supply and demand, and rising costs.
Against this backdrop, the aim of the Slim4 implementation is to increase stock turnover across the company’s more than 350 depots, optimise inventory levels in a targeted way, and manage minimum stock levels more precisely as part of an assortment adjustment.
From manual planning to a data‑driven solution
The project to introduce Slimstock’s Slim4 solution at Jacques’ Wein-Depot began in January 2026. Prior to this, inventory management was characterised by a highly manual planning process based on an external, custom‑developed ERP extension. However, as this no longer met requirements and was causing inefficiencies, the company decided to switch software solutions.
Slimstock impressed not only with its innovative, AI‑driven solution, but also with its extensive expertise in the wine industry, demonstrated by projects for customers such as Global Wine Operations, LFE, Vinites and Cordier.
Following a successful project phase, the Slimstock solution has been live since the end of 2025 and now supports the wine specialist nationwide with demand‑driven inventory management and replenishment for both depots and the webshop. In addition, Slim4 is also used in the central warehouse to support the efficient management of stock allocation and purchasing.
Alongside its AI‑based planning and forecasting tools and the ability to simulate a wide range of scenarios, Jacques’ Wein-Depot also uses Slimstock’s business intelligence (BI) dashboard for medium‑ and long‑term KPI analysis. The Promotion Manager is also in use, supporting the planning of promotional wine campaigns. Thanks to precise forecasts of expected demand and promotion effects, both out‑of‑stocks and excess inventory during promotional periods can be avoided.
Sascha Krinke, Head of IT at Jacques’ Wein-Depot Wein‑Einzelhandel GmbH, summarises the benefits of the Slim4 implementation:
“Good replenishment planning cannot be delivered by a classic ERP system. Instead of overloading a monolithic ERP with additional logic as we did in the past, we are deliberately taking the first step towards a modular, flexibly expandable ERP architecture. Slim4 fits perfectly into this target vision. It gives us greater speed and responsiveness and allows us to adapt our supply chain much more agilely to volatile conditions in a changing sales market. This strengthens our position as market leader in wine retail.”
Strategic lever for digitalisation and growth
Overall, the use of the Slim4 solution represents a central element of the wine specialist’s omnichannel‑oriented process and systems architecture. It supports the development of a modular system landscape and thereby creates the structural prerequisites to sustainably support the company’s planned growth.
Eelco Wever, Managing Director of Slimstock GmbH, comments:
“With the management of order proposals for more than 350 depots, the project with Jacques’ Wein-Depot, as part of the Hawesko Group, is one of the largest we have undertaken in the retail sector in the DACH region to date. The implementation phase and go‑live were already very successful and characterised by a highly constructive and pleasant collaboration. We look forward to supporting the company not only in its day‑to‑day operations, but also as a long‑term partner in achieving its digitalisation and growth objectives.”
