GastroHero, an online retailer for catering supplies and part of the Aurelius investment group, has decided to start its supply chain planning transformation project with the Slimstock solution Slim4. Since its launch in August of 2024, the company has seen outstanding improvements, not only have the processes been significantly streamlined and made more efficient – the added value is also reflected in the stock levels.
GastroHero offers more than 12,000 products for professional catering needs – from refrigeration technology, cooking and kitchen appliances, stainless steel furniture and catering equipment to the smallest accessories. Launched in 2013 as a start-up, the German company has developed into one of the leading European online retailers in its sector.
With the introduction of Slimstock software, GastroHero will drive forward the automation of supply chain and inventory processes by reducing manual work. After exploring the market, the retailer decided to partner with Slimstock after numerous recommendations and a practical presentation: ‘The project ran extremely quickly and was also very structured thanks to the professional project management by Slimstock. This accelerated the go-live enormously,’ Explained Ahmet Özdem, Demand & Supply Planner at GastroHero.
Results
Since the beginning of the implementation, the company has benefited from significantly more efficient processes. With Slim4’s robust product classification module, it has not only been able to optimise its stock levels, but also to increase the availability of business-critical products.
Overall, the stock was reduced by 43% and excess stock was reduced while increasing availability. The statistically based forecasts provided by the tool are also a great advantage, showing employees precisely which items are needed, when, and in what quantities.
Furthermore, Slimstock’s supply planning platform provides relevant insights of individual items and supports GastroHero with scenario simulations, which greatly simplifies and optimises ordering and stock decisions. “Slim4 has raised GastroHero to a new level of efficiency,” highlights Anna-Lena Opara, Head of Procurement at GastroHero.
