The connection of theory and practise is very important for Slimstock Professionals. We have therefore designed a course in which this is the key factor.
The Purchasing course is 6 days long, broken into 12 sessions. Sessions 1-7 are strategic, 8 and 9 tactical and 10 is operational. Session 11 is a case study and 12 includes a test.
Each session is centred on a specific topic and lasts half a day. The first part always focuses on the theory, followed by the application to real world Supply Chain management. The last part sees participants working in groups on a case study. The cases always focus on particular aspects of the same company 'X'. As the course progresses and more information becomes available, this is incorporated into the scenario. The final case is designed to make use of all preceding studies.
At the start of the course each participant will receive an assignment to build a business case. These are then presented on the final morning, before a test concludes the course.

The course is targeted at under graduate level and is suitable for: Operations Managers, Purchasing Managers, Supply Chain Professionals, Procurement Professionals and Financial Managers.
As well as the 6 day programme, Slimstock Academy also offers a 2 day course. The shorter course is structured in the same way as the full Purchasing course, but is less in-depth. The first half day focuses on theory, while the last afternoon uses a case study to highlight all the issues discussed.
