Machine uptime and mean-time-to-repair heavily depend on the availability of spare parts. Maximising service levels with optimised stock is a pre-condition to running a profitable spare parts business.
The Kramp Group supplies spare parts for the agricultural, industrial, garden and parks market. Kramp has a range of 150,000 technical items, of which 90,000 are kept in stock. Many of these have very erratic demand patterns and often highly seasonal. Marcel Vlogtman from Purchasing and Logistics: "We are now much better at managing the stock of seasonal products. Calculations are made automatically. When there are fluctuations, we can easily anticipate them."
