Inventory Optimisation

Slim4 forecasts the expected sales per day, per item and per location. This forecast plus the safety stock, based on the preferred service level, leads to optimal inventory. When placing an order with the supplier, Slim4 takes into account over (and under) stock position in stores. Slim4 calculates a purchase forecast per article for 52 weeks ahead. The Order Generator module in Slim4 makes it possible to easily fill up an order with the right products and quantities so that supplier conditions are met.

Dynamic inventory management

Each store has its own sales level for each article. During the year this may vary per location because of seasonality, trends and promotions. Therefore it is important to calculate the reorder point per article, per store on a daily basis.

Service level driven inventory

Not all items are equally important. The ABC module in Slim4 ensures that the entire assortment is segmented based on forecasted sales, revenue or margin. The ABC calculation in combination with business rules per assortment category, lead to more differentiated service levels with corresponding safety stocks.

Integrated inventory management

Integrated inventory management within a retail chain (central warehouse and stores) leads to a more balanced stock. When placing orders Slim4 takes into account overstock and understock in shops. Possible future shortages in the central warehouse can be avoided by squeezing stock positions in the right stores.

Sharing purchase forecast with suppliers

Sharing purchase forecasts with suppliers leads to better availability. Slim4 calculates the sales forecast for the next year. Based on this forecast the purchase forecast per item is determined for the next 52 weeks. This purchase forecast can be easily shared with suppliers.

Ordering full containers, free amounts or full truck loads

Many buyers increment an order by ordering more items of those already being ordered. This is labor intensive and leads to an unbalanced stock position. Slim4 automatically makes sure the right items are being ordered by pulling forward the expected purchase lines for the next weeks.
