Retail-E-commerce

E-Commerce

E-commerce has many variants. Many traditional retailers are starting their online shops within the existing retail landscape. In addition, more and more stand alone web shops arise. Availability becomes more important on the web: no stock directly results in lost sales. Slim4 is equipped with all basic forms to deal with specific E-commerce issues.

Volatility of demand

Price transparency on the web leads to a more erratic consumer demand in E-tail than for traditional retailers. The Management by Exception principle of Slim4 signals when the market has an extreme change or issues arise. This allows for rapid intervention.

Multichannel

A webshop has a different sales pattern than a traditional store of the same retailer. It is important to recognise these differences. If web orders are being picked in the central warehouse, it is important to forecast the expected web sales individually and make a 'reservation' on the existing central stock.

B2C and B2B

Many websites sell directly to both consumers and business customers. It is important to recognise extreme B2B deals and exclude them from the base forecast.
